Nipple Reconstruction with Areolar Tattooing Patient 3

54-year-old woman who developed breast cancer required bilateral total mastectomies. Reconstruction was performed with bilateral pedicled TRAM flaps. A breast reduction skin excision (Wise pattern) was used to reduce the amount of breast skin to reduce the overall size of the breast. Nipple areola reconstruction was performed with modified star flaps. Final nipple areola tattooing was performed at a third stage in the office. This patient is shown 1 year after final reconstruction.

This is a breast reconstruction case using tissue expanders, aceullular dermal matrix, and permanent implants or TRAM Flaps. The mastectomy was performed via a “Wise Pattern” Skin excision similar to a breast reduction. This approach is used in woman with larger breasts to reduce the amount of excess skin, giving a much improved shape and contour.
